A 53-year-old Chantilly woman using a mobility wheelchair died after a Kia Rio struck her Friday evening on Route 50 in Greenbriar, Fairfax County police reported.
On the evening of September 18 at 7:27 p.m., officers received a report of a traffic collision on Route 50 at Plaza Lane.
Theresa Flynn was crossing Route 50 going from south to north outside of a crosswalk when a westbound Kia Rio hit her, based on preliminary findings by the department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit.
Flynn was taken to the local hospital with critical injuries and subsequently succumbed to them.
The Kia’s driver was uninjured and remained at the scene. Speed and alcohol do not appear to have been factors for the driver, according to the unit’s preliminary findings.
The victim specialists of the Victim Services Division of the Major Crimes Bureau are helping Flynn’s family.
