Ukrainian forces targeting Russian oil refining is continuing and having a tangible effect, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Sunday, crediting the country’s armed forces and security service.
Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces also struck Russian anti-aircraft missile systems and radar stations. He said Ukraine carried out responses against Russian infrastructure in the Azov and Black Sea regions.
He did not provide the targets or the extent of any damage, and the claims could not be independently verified.
Zelenskyy blamed the continued fighting on Moscow, saying the war persists because of Russia’s unwillingness to end it.
The president said Ukraine is holding new contacts with mediators this week regarding the necessary measures and ideas to take in order to make progress towards peace. He said Ukraine remains active in diplomatic efforts.
Zelenskyy added that further talks are planned to secure air defense packages to protect Ukrainian cities and civilians.
