The master of a tanker reported an explosion near the ship off Oman on Sunday, but both the ship and its crew are safe, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations.
The incident occurred approximately 20 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, Oman, UKMTO said. UKMTO identified the master of the tanker as the source in Advisory 103-26.
There is no mention of the tanker, any damage, or what may have caused the reported explosion in the notice.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, UKMTO said. The UKMTO did not identify which authority is investigating the incident and when more information can be expected.
UKMTO advised ships transiting through the area to be careful and report any suspicious behavior. There was no further information on what the master of the tanker heard or any impact to the ship.
