“All emergency services are being mobilized and rescue crews are still on the scene,” he said. — Volodymyr Zelenskyy
The rescue operation was still underway. Work to establish exactly what happened and account for everyone affected was continuing, according to his post on X.
In Slovyansk, Zelenskyy reported five deaths and nine injuries after guided aerial bomb strikes. He said homes, vehicles and a consulate building were damaged.
Zelenskyy expressed condolences to the families of those killed in Russian attacks. He described the strikes as attacks on civilians and said Russia must be held accountable.
He also said Ukraine’s partners had a role in protecting lives. Interceptors for Patriot air defense systems were the “number one priority,” he said.
Virginia Times has not independently verified the reported casualties or damage. Zelenskyy’s post did not identify the consulate building.
