Zelensky Warns of New Massive Russian Strike, Urges Patriot Missiles

Ukraine’s president says delayed Patriot deliveries cost lives and embolden Moscow

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Sunday that intelligence indicates Russia is preparing a new massive strike, urging Ukrainians to stay safe and heed air raid alerts.

In a statement posted on X, Zelensky said the timing was typical of Russian President Vladimir Putin, coming just after America’s Independence Day and before the NATO Summit in Ankara. He said Russia wants to inflict more harm and kill people.

Zelensky also appealed directly to Ukraine’s partners, saying any delay in delivering missiles for Patriot air defense systems means the loss of lives and encourages Russia to continue the war.

The world has enough air defense in both quantity and quality, Zelensky said. He called on the United States and strong countries in Europe to make the decisions needed to protect lives in Ukraine.

Missiles for Patriots are needed not in warehouses right now, but in Patriot units in Ukraine. — President Volodymyr Zelensky

Missiles are needed “in Patriot units in Ukraine,” not in warehouses, he said, thanking those already providing real help.

Zelensky did not detail the intelligence, potential targets or timing beyond his statement.

This is a developing story. Virginia Times will update as information becomes available.
