Hours after the Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship and rejected his executive order in a 6-3 ruling, President Donald Trump fired back on Truth Social with a sarcastic jab.
He wrote: “I would like to congratulate President Xi, and the Great Country of China, on their massive Birthright Citizenship WIN!”

China was not part of the case. Trump framed the ruling as a “win” for China to mock the decision, suggesting it helps Chinese nationals seeking U.S. citizenship for their U.S.-born children.
Trump has long argued that birthright citizenship rewards foreigners who travel to America to give birth, singling out “rich people from China.” According to Forbes, he used Truth Social before the ruling to complain about wealthy pregnant women from China and elsewhere coming to the U.S. so their newborns gain citizenship.
The court ruled that children born in the U.S. to parents in the country illegally or temporarily are citizens. Three conservative justices dissented.
