Fifteen people were taken to hospitals Saturday afternoon after Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews responded to reports of a possible boat explosion near Haulover Sandbar, according to the Miami Herald.
Fire crews received the reports around 12:50 p.m. at the sandbar, just west of Haulover Beach Marina, officials said.
More than 25 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded to the emergency. First responders found multiple people injured at the scene, the Herald reported.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed that 15 people were taken to hospitals. Authorities had not confirmed whether an explosion actually occurred or what specifically caused the injuries.
No additional details on the patients’ ages or conditions were immediately released. Officials had not released a cause for the reported explosion, which remained under investigation at this time.
