Trump Revives ‘Tim Apple’ Line, Calls Cook’s Career ‘Almost Incomparable’

The post came as Apple prepares to hand the CEO role to John Ternus in September.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday praised Apple CEO Tim Cook in a lengthy Truth Social post, calling him “an incredible guy” and saying Apple did better under Cook than it would have under Steve Jobs.

Trump wrote that their relationship began early in his first term, when Cook called him with what he described as a problem only the president could fix. Trump said he agreed with Cook’s position and handled the matter “quickly and effectively.”

In the post, Trump wrote that the call marked the start of a “long and very nice relationship” and said Cook would contact him from time to time during his presidency for help. Trump said he assisted Cook on several occasions, though not always, and praised Cook for getting results without relying on costly outside consultants.

Trump also wrote that he had long admired both Cook and late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. He said that if Jobs had remained at the company, Apple still would have done well, but “nowhere near as well” as it did under Cook.

The post also referred to Trump’s earlier remark calling Cook “Tim Apple.” Trump wrote that he remembered thinking, “Wow, Tim Apple (Cook!) is calling.”

Trump called Cook’s career “almost incomparable” and said he would continue to do strong work for Apple and beyond. A day earlier, Apple said Cook will become executive chairman on Sept. 1, 2026, when John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, is set to become chief executive officer. Apple said the board-approved change followed a thoughtful, long-term succession planning process.
