President Donald Trump said late Wednesday that U.S. military forces and equipment would remain in and around Iran until what he called a “real agreement” is fully complied with, while warning of a larger military response if that does not happen.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said U.S. ships, aircraft and military personnel, along with additional ammunition and weapons, would stay in place around Iran.
He said the agreement, in his words, required that there be “NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS” and that the Strait of Hormuz “WILL BE OPEN & SAFE.” Trump also warned that if the agreement is not followed, then “the ‘Shootin’ Starts,” with greater force.
In another post on Truth Social the same day, he rejected reports by The New York Times and CNN about a 10-point plan tied to Iran negotiations. He said the reported Iran plan was “totally FAKE” and called it a hoax.
