New Letters in Nancy Guthrie Case Claim She Was Seen in Sonora, Mexico

New notes in the cold case raise fresh questions, but the claims remain unconfirmed.

New letters linked to the Nancy Guthrie disappearance claim the writer knows who took her and says she was seen alive in Sonora, Mexico, according to TMZ.

The report said both messages came from the same person. One note reportedly said Guthrie was dead. A second later claimed the writer had seen her alive with the people holding her in Sonora, a Mexican state that borders Arizona. The conflicting claims have not been explained, and law enforcement has not publicly verified them.

TMZ said that they sent the FBI the first letter. As of Monday, investigators had not publicly confirmed that the letters were real. The outlet also said that the Bitcoin wallet for the demand hadn’t received any money yet.

According to TMZ, the writer asked for half a bitcoin in exchange for information and said the rest should be paid after a public arrest. The person also denied taking part in the abduction.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, disappeared from her Tucson home on February 1 2026 . No arrests have been announced, and the case remains open.
