Trump Blasts Powell, Boasberg and Supreme Court Over Tariffs and Fed Probe

Trump accused the courts of political bias while demanding scrutiny of the Federal Reserve and defending his tariff authority.

President Donald Trump used a post on Truth Social to sharply criticize Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, Judge James Boasberg and the Supreme Court, accusing the courts of unfairly targeting Republicans while preventing scrutiny of the Federal Reserve.

Trump said Powell should be investigated over cost overruns and delays tied to the renovation of the Federal Reserve complex in Washington, calling the project a “money pit” and an embarrassment. He also said the contractor involved should face scrutiny. In the post, Trump argued that the courts were preventing even a basic investigation into what he called financial mismanagement at the Fed.

Most of President Trump’s ire was directed against Judge James Boasberg, whom he accused of political bias. He should be recused in cases involving President Trump and his allies, he added. He accused Judge Boasberg of making decisions in the Powell case and other cases based more on politics than on the law.

Trump also attacked the Supreme Court, saying that the court’s decision regarding the imposition of tariffs was the one that mattered most to him. He added that the court’s decision might favor foreign interests that have been enjoying the benefits of their actions in the U.S., while also stating that he was still in the position to impose the tariffs by other means, which he has already done.

He thanked Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, and Brett Kavanaugh for their “wisdom and courage” in the tariff case. He also attacked the Democratic-appointed justices, stating that they voted as a bloc. He also attacked the Republican-appointed justices, saying that they go out of their way to show their independence by ruling against the presidents who appointed them.

Criticizing the judiciary, he said, “The Democrat Justices just vote Democrat—they always stick together! Our country was unnecessarily RANSACKED by the United States Supreme Court, which has become little more than a weaponized and unjust political organization.”

Regarding his longstanding claim about the 2020 election, he said, “They wouldn’t even call out the rigged presidential election of 2020, because they said that I, as president of the United States, did not have ‘standing’ to challenge it, and now, with time, it has been conclusively proven to be stolen—and look what happened to our wonderful nation by allowing a grossly incompetent man, Sleepy Joe Biden, to be our ‘president.’”

Ending his lengthy post, Trump said, “All I can do, as President, is call them out for their bad behavior! This statement about the United States Supreme Court will cause me nothing but problems in the future, but I feel it is my obligation to speak the TRUTH.”
