Britney Spears Taken to Hospital After DUI Arrest, Report Says

Report says Spears was taken for a blood test after the traffic stop, then released with a May 4 court date.

Singer Britney Spears was arrested on Wednesday night in Ventura County, California, on suspicion of driving under the influence, as first reported by TMZ.

TMZ reported, citing Spears as saying that she was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol. She was then booked by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department early the next morning and released a few hours later, according to inmate records.

Britney Spears was taken to a hospital shortly after the traffic stop for an alleged DUI early Thursday, with California Highway Patrol officers transporting her there for a blood draw to determine her blood alcohol content. TMZ cited multiple sources close to Spears saying she was alone when officers pulled her over in Westlake Village, near her home, and that she was not injured.

Other outlets, including People, reported that Spears was issued a citation and released, and that she is scheduled to appear in court May 4.

The arrest came shortly after Spears won a legal victory involving her personal safety. TMZ reported that she was granted a permanent restraining order against a Louisiana man who allegedly harassed her online for years and later showed up at her home.

TMZ reported that Spears said the man had contacted her since 2013 and was previously arrested for trespassing at her residence in 2025.

Spears also faced legal issues before. TMZ reported that she was charged in 2007 in connection with an alleged hit-and-run involving a parked car in Los Angeles. Reports said she paid for the damage, and she was acquitted of a separate charge related to driving without a California license.
