Brother of the late Jeffrey Epstein accused Donald Trump of authorizing the death of the financier in an FBI tip on Feb. 22, 2023, according to records released in connection with the government’s expanding Epstein file disclosures.
The accusation against President Donald Trump was mentioned in an email within the records of the latest documents released by the US Department of Justice in compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
The records showed that On Feb. 22, 2023, Mark Epstein sent the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center an online tip regarding the alleged murder of his brother in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan in August 2019.
In the text of the online tip, the brother of the late financier stated that he had reasons to believe his brother was murdered because he was about to name names, and he accused Donald Trump of having authorized the murder of the financier. The text of the online tip contained several misspelled words.
The file itself indicates that the tip was handled as a non-emergency submission and was routed internally by an FBI threat intake examiner to a special agent for “situational awareness and any action deemed appropriate,” according to the email header and narrative summary in the disclosure.
In the broader release, the DOJ noted that the documents included in the production include “information that the public has submitted to the FBI and that the FBI has not verified as true.” Further, the DOJ stated in its release that the documents include “untrue and sensationalist claims about then-candidate Donald Trump.” There is no evidence in the disclosure that the investigation verified the accusation by Mark Epstein.
Mark Epstein verified in a phone call with The Independent that he did indeed submit the tip and that he was not contacted by the FBI or other law enforcement to follow up, the outlet reported.
Jeffrey Epstein, who was facing federal charges of sex trafficking, was found dead in prison in 2019. An investigation into the cause of Epstein’s death determined that he died by suicide.
