Today I’m sharing a story that genuinely made me smile.
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is one of Virginia’s largest and most recognized public school systems, known for strong academics, diverse programs, and wide community support. For many families in Northern Virginia, FCPS is a top choice because it offers strong course options, career academies, and arts pathways that students can truly grow into.
The Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Alumni Network just featured Trisha Dahal (Robinson Secondary School, Class of 2019)—and it’s a reminder of what happens when talent meets the right teachers, the right mentorship, and the right push at the right time.
In the spotlight is something Trisha has always carried with her: creativity. She credits supportive teachers and mentors for helping her grow—not just in high school, but into college as well.
One of the biggest turning points came through academy-level photography classes at Fairfax High School. With access to professional equipment and real hands-on learning, she sharpened her skills and gained confidence—plus the kind of leadership and networking experience students don’t always realize they’re building until later.
In college, she kept pushing—earning a strong GPA and getting her work published through George Mason University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts.
What I loved most is how the story comes full circle: Trisha now works for Fairfax County Public Schools, driven by her love of working with children and her passion for art—with a goal of possibly teaching art in the future. Even outside work, she keeps creating through photography and AI-generated art.
If you’re a student (or a parent of one), her biggest takeaway is simple: ask for help sooner—use your teachers and resources early, because it makes the next step easier.
