Japan said the projectiles fell outside its exclusive economic zone and PM Sanae Takaichi ordered swift public updates and safety steps.

North Korea launched two suspected ballistic missiles on Sunday, according to Kyodo News.

Japanese officials said the projectiles were believed to have fallen outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone. A government source said no damage to ships or aircraft has been reported, Kyodo News reported.

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi instructed government officials to gather information and quickly provide necessary details to the public, while ensuring the safety of aircraft and ships and preparing for contingencies, her office said, according to Kyodo News.
