Ukraine has joined the “Roam Like at Home” roaming zone of the European Union, which will enable Ukrainians to call, text, and use mobile data across all 27 EU member states at their home tariff without extra roaming charges, according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ukraine is the first country from outside the EU and the European Economic Area that has fully joined the bloc’s internal roaming market, added the ministry.
The foreign ministry stresses the fact that it is not about a temporary waiver, but full integration into the EU’s internal roaming market, with shared rules, consumer protection, and equal treatment.
The agreement goes both ways: EU visitors in Ukraine will be allowed to use their phones on their home plans as well, the ministry said.
The statement also emphasizes assured access to emergent services under the new dispensation.
