On Monday, President Donald Trump said that the U.S. military had carried out a second “kinetic strike” against what he called violent drug-trafficking “narcoterrorists” operating in international waters. Three men were killed, but no Americans were hurt.
Trump’s statement on Truth Social said that the action happened in the area of duty for the U.S. Southern Command.
Trump added that traffickers from Venezuela who were bringing illegal drugs into the United States were “positively identified.” He said that U.S. troops would keep going after groups that move drugs that “can kill Americans,” and he added, “No U.S. Forces were harmed in this Strike.”
He said that Monday’s operation was the second in a sequence, with the first being an attack by U.S. forces last week against a ship that was thought to be shipping drugs from Venezuela.
