Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki, who was appointed as Prime Minister of the interim government, has taken the oath of office and secrecy. On Friday evening (Bhadra 27), Karki took the oath of office and secrecy from President Ramchandra Paudel at a program organized at Shital Niwas.
Prime Minister Karki has been given the responsibility to complete new elections for the House of Representatives within the next 6 months for a fresh mandate.
Earlier, President Paudel had appointed Karki to the post of Prime Minister according to Article 61 of the Constitution. Karki has become Nepal’s first female Prime Minister.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Vice President Ramsahayaprasad Yadav, Chief Justice Prakashmansingh Raut, and others.
According to sources, a three-member cabinet will be formed soon. The deal also includes the dissolution of the current parliament.
