Patriot Day 2025: Trump Issues Proclamation, Pays Tribute on 9/11 Anniversary

Trump declares Patriot Day, orders half-staff flags, and calls for remembrance on the 24th 9/11 anniversary.

On the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, President Donald J. Trump declared Patriot Day and ordered flags to be flown at half-staff across the country in memory of the victims.

The proclamation tells the story of the four hijacked flights, commemorates the people who died in New York and at the Pentagon, and celebrates the passengers of Flight 93 for stopping another attack on Washington, D.C.

The declaration says that the day “will forever live in the collective consciousness.” It also urges for people to remember the deceased and the first responders who went into danger and repeats a promise that the United States “will never, ever forget.” It also tells Americans, especially young people, to look for and share recollections of that day and what happened following it.

Trump wrote an homage on Truth Social earlier today. He said that “on that fateful day, savage monsters attacked the very symbols of our civilization.” He also said that Americans “will never yield, we will never bend, we will never give up.”

People all throughout the country are remembering the nearly 3,000 lives killed and the many more who have died from illnesses related to the attacks. Observances are happening in New York City, at the Pentagon, and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
