President Donald Trump encouraged foreign investors doing business in the U.S. to “respect our Nation’s Immigration Laws.” He added in a Truth Social post that investments are welcome and that the U.S. would “quickly and legally” let competent workers in. He also asked businesses to hire and train American workers. President Trump’s comment came after federal agents raided a Hyundai-LG battery plant in Georgia.
On Friday, Federal agents arrested some 475 individuals after a months-long investigation into infractions of visa and work authorization rules. They were then taken to a federal facility in Folkston, Georgia.
According to reports from Yonhap, South Korea has made plans to bring some of its citizens back home once the U.S. government finishes its work. The governments are still having critical trade talks.
LG Energy Solution reported that 47 of its own employees and roughly 250 contractors were among those who were arrested. Hyundai confirmed that none of the people who were arrested worked directly for the company.
