The FBI started a two-day hunt in the rugged forests of central Washington on Monday to find Travis Decker, the father wanted in connection with the June deaths of his three young kids. Authorities said that there is still no new evidence in the case and that it is still unclear if Decker is still alive.
Decker has been wanted since June 2, 2025. In June, Deputies found his abandoned truck and the deaths of his daughters, Paityn, 8, Evelyn, and 5, at Rock Island Campground in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Decker, 41 and started searching him.
Working with the federal government
The most recent operation involves about 100 people from the federal, state, and local levels, the Sheriff’s office said. The FBI’s Seattle Field Office is working with specialized teams, including SWAT, evidence response units, crisis specialists, and forensic analysts. The Washington State Patrol, the U.S. Marshals Service, and a number of local authorities are also involved, according to the Sheriff office.
Sheriff Morrison stated in a statement on Monday, “This case has rocked the foundation of our county.” It was an unimaginable and pointless act of violence that took the lives of Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia Decker. We are thinking of and praying for their loved ones, and we will keep fighting for justice for them.
Still at Large
Investigators believes Decker may have fled to the hilly, heavily wooded hills near Leavenworth, which are where search crews are looking. Roads, trails, and campers nearby will be closed for a short time for search, Sheriff office said.
Still Alive
After months of investigation and intensive searches, there is still no solid confirmation that Decker is alive or dead, authorities says . Morrison then said, “We won’t stop until we’ve tried every way to find him and solve this case.”
Authoritizes have charged Three counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree kidnapping against Decker. The U.S. Marshals Service announces a prize up to $20,000 for information that leads to his capture.
