    • He is accused of killing four family members in Tiptonville on July 29, 2025.
    • The victims include his girlfriend’s two siblings and her mother.
    • The community played a key role in locating the suspect, according to TBI.
    • Multiple agencies collaborated in the high-profile investigation and arrest.

    The Big Picture

Authorities in Tennessee have announced the successful capture of Austin Robert Drummond, the fugitive wanted in connection with a quadruple homicide in Lake County. The 28-year-old was taken into custody after a coordinated week-long search that included local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, along with vital assistance from the public.

At a press conference on Monday, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation(TBI) Public Information Officer Kim Wheeler expressed relief and gratitude: “We couldn’t be more relieved to share the update that Austin Robert Drummond is in custody. This successful apprehension was made possible by the countless tips and unwavering support that we have received from you, the citizens.”

    Community and Law Enforcement Collaboration

TBI Director David Rausch emphasized the significance of teamwork and public engagement: “This is a perfect example of police-community cooperation, and there is no better example, quite frankly.”

“It was the community that really broke this for us, and I don’t want to downplay that at all,” Rausch added. “We weren’t surprised that he was still here in the area. We knew he was obtaining support. We have arrested individuals who were providing that.”

The suspect was ultimately tracked down with assistance from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force, FBI, and various local departments.

    Victims and Charges

Drummond faces multiple charges, including four counts of First Degree Murder, Aggravated Kidnapping, and numerous weapons violations, following the July 29 killings along Carrington Road in Tiptonville.

    The victims were identified as:

    • James M. Wilson, 21
    • Adrianna Williams, 20
    • Cortney Rose, 38
    • Braydon Williams, 15

Rausch confirmed that the suspect’s girlfriend was the sister of two of the victims and the daughter of another, adding a disturbing family dynamic to the tragedy.

    What They’re Saying

“Thank you to the local, state and federal agencies that came together to work tirelessly for an entire week until today we were finally able to get the lead we needed to find the suspect and get him into custody.” — TBI Director David Rausch
“I know the community will get some rest tonight. It was amazing to see the hard work, commitment, and sacrifice our law enforcement personnel made for our community.” — Madison Co. Sheriff Julian Wiser

    Ongoing Investigation

Authorities confirmed the recovery of multiple weapons but said they continue to search for further evidence. “If you see something that you think was involved, don’t touch it. Call us right away,” Rausch urged.

The TBI had previously located two vehicles believed to be linked to Drummond — a white 2016 Audi A3 in Jackson and a white 1988 Ford pickup truck with a red stripe in Dyer County. Both were found unoccupied.

    Background

On August 3, the U.S. Marshals Service announced an increased reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to Drummond’s arrest, bringing the total offer — combined with the TBI’s contribution — to $17,500. The agency described him as “armed and dangerous.”

Moments after the arrest, the TBI posted a photo of Drummond to X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Here’s a picture of #TNMostWanted fugitive Austin Drummond, moments after having been taken into custody.”
