Beyoncé’s Unreleased Music Stolen in Atlanta Ahead of Concert Series

Unreleased music and tour assets taken from choreographer’s rental car, police say

Summary: Unreleased music, show footage, and plans related to Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour were stolen from a rental car in Atlanta used by her choreographer and a dancer. The theft occurred two days before her first Atlanta show, prompting a police investigation and arrest warrant for a still-at-large suspect.

    What happened

According to a report by AFP, the theft occurred on July 8 when the rear window of a rental car used by Beyoncé’s choreographer Christopher Grant and a dancer was smashed in Atlanta. Grant told police their luggage had been stolen from the vehicle.

The stolen items included several jump drives containing unreleased, watermarked tracks, concert footage, show plans, and past and future setlists. Also reported missing were an Apple MacBook, high-end clothing, and headphones.

    Ongoing investigation

Atlanta Police stated that a search of the area where the MacBook and headphones had pinged their last location did not result in any recoveries. A warrant has been issued for a suspect, who has not yet been named and remains at large.

The Atlanta Police Department confirmed the theft in an online statement and said the case is active and ongoing.

    About the “Cowboy Carter” Tour

The incident took place just two days before Beyoncé began the Atlanta leg of her “Cowboy Carter” stadium tour. The tour supports her 2024 album of the same name, which won her the first “Album of the Year” Grammy of her career.

The project marked a bold transition into country music and was praised for spotlighting Black artists’ contributions to the genre. Known for its historical depth and genre-bending ambition, the album was a defining moment in her discography.

    What’s next

Beyoncé wrapped up a four-night performance run in Atlanta on Monday. Her final tour dates are scheduled for late July in Las Vegas, where she will conclude her high-profile “Cowboy Carter” tour.
