BREAKING: Iran Launches Retaliatory Missile Strikes on Israel, IDF Confirms Wave of Attacks

Iranian forces strike Tel Aviv and Jerusalem with reported hypersonic missiles after Israeli air raids.

Tel Aviv/Tehran — A wave of Iranian missile strikes is currently targeting Israeli territory in a major retaliatory escalation, according to statements from both the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Iranian state media. The situation is still unfolding.

“The Iranian attack is ongoing. Dozens of additional missiles were launched toward Israel,” the IDF said on X (formerly Twitter) late Friday night.

Meanwhile, Iranian state news agency IRNA reported that the Islamic Republic of Iran Armed Forces had “begun a wave of retaliatory strikes on Israel” in response to earlier Israeli airstrikes that killed several top Iranian military officials, including four generals.

“Images and footage began to appear shortly afterwards showing the Iranian missiles, reportedly hypersonic, exploding upon impact on their targets and large fireballs lighting up the night sky in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem,” IRNA wrote, suggesting multiple strike locations including civilian areas.

This follows Israel’s claimed June 13 operation that targeted Iranian nuclear and military facilities. The latest Iranian retaliation could mark a significant escalation in the ongoing shadow war between the two regional powers.
