Shakira’s WorldPride DC Concert Canceled Due to Equipment Issues

    Story Highlights

    • Shakira’s concert in Washington, D.C. for WorldPride 2025 has been canceled.
    • Organizers cited equipment difficulties following her Boston performance.
    • WorldPride programming will continue as planned throughout the weekend.

Global pop icon Shakira’s headline concert at WorldPride 2025 in Washington, D.C., scheduled for Saturday, May 31 at Nationals Park, has been abruptly canceled. Organizers confirmed the announcement Friday, citing equipment transportation challenges following her previous show in Boston.

    Statement from WorldPride Organizers

WorldPride DC, the lead organizer of the multi-day celebration, expressed deep regret in a public statement, acknowledging the disappointment felt by fans who had traveled globally to attend the show.

“Like Shakira’s fans and our friends and family who have traveled from around the world to join us in DC this weekend, we are deeply disappointed that unforeseen circumstances have forced the cancellation of both this week’s concert in Boston and tomorrow’s concert at Nationals Park.”

    What Happened?

According to the official release, “Shakira’s full tour production cannot be transported to Washington, D.C. in time.” The logistical issues stemmed from technical complications at her Boston show, making it impossible to continue as planned. Despite organizers’ efforts, there was no viable way to proceed with the event.

Refunds will be issued automatically for purchases made via Ticketmaster and nationals.com. Attendees who purchased tickets through third-party vendors such as StubHub, SeatGeek, or Vivid Seats are advised to contact their ticket providers directly.

    WorldPride 2025 Will Go On

Despite the cancellation, organizers reassured the public that WorldPride 2025 in Washington, D.C. remains fully operational with a packed calendar of inclusive events and celebrations across the city.

    • WorldPride Welcome Party benefiting Capital Cup at Bertha, NE DC

    Looking Ahead

WorldPride DC will release details soon about the rescheduled or relocated Opening Ceremony program. The full calendar of events, including the next weekend’s free Street Festival and concerts featuring Cynthia Erivo and Doechii, remains available online.

Organizers emphasized their commitment to celebrating 50 years of Pride in the nation’s capital and welcomed guests to enjoy the wide array of cultural, musical, and community-driven events taking place throughout the week.
