Oweh, meanwhile, is participating to evaluate his standing before potentially returning to Kentucky for another collegiate season.
NBA teams are closely watching how players perform under pressure. The event is also a chance for late risers to make a leap into the first or second round, and for underclassmen to solidify their draft declarations.

Beyond scrimmage performance, the Combine provides critical insight through measurements like vertical leap, wingspan, reaction time, and endurance drills. Teams also hold interviews to assess players’ mental preparedness, communication skills, and off-court character.
“This is where surprises happen,” said NBA scout Marcus Powell. “You see a guy up close, understand how he communicates, and sometimes a name jumps up your board because of how he handles the moment.”
Draft boards are already shifting as players like Michigan State’s Javon Carter and Serbian center Luka Milic turn heads with strong performances during the first day of activities.
Draft Outlook
The NBA Draft is scheduled for June 26 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. With international and college talent expected to be evenly distributed in the first round, front offices are using the Combine to finalize player interviews, confirm medical evaluations, and make final strategic decisions.
Executives from all 30 teams are in attendance, making this the most consequential week for rising prospects looking to make the leap into professional basketball.
