Amroha, Uttar Pradesh – Pawandeep Rajan, the celebrated winner of Indian Idol Season 12, was seriously injured in a major car accident early Monday morning on National Highway 9 near the Gajraula police station area in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. He was reportedly en route from Champawat, Uttarakhand, to Delhi to attend a scheduled event.
Accident Details
According to police reports, Rajan’s MG Hector SUV collided with a stationary Eicher Canter truck around 3 AM. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver may have dozed off behind the wheel, leading to the accident. Rajan was traveling with his friend Ajay Mehra and driver Rahul Singh—both of whom also sustained serious injuries.
The trio was initially taken to a local hospital and later transferred to Fortis Hospital in Noida for advanced treatment.
Current Medical Condition
Doctors at Fortis Hospital have confirmed that Rajan suffered multiple fractures in his arms and legs, in addition to a head injury. Although he remains in stable and conscious condition, he is expected to undergo a series of surgeries in the coming days.
A video circulating on social media, showing Rajan receiving emergency care, has triggered an outpouring of concern and support from fans across the country.
Chief Minister’s Response
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“Got the sad news of well-known singer and able son of Devbhoomi Pawandeep Rajan getting injured in a road accident. I pray for his speedy recovery.”
Investigation and Police Action
Authorities have seized both the MG Hector and the truck involved. The investigation is ongoing, and police are awaiting a formal complaint from the family before proceeding with further legal steps.
Who Is Pawandeep Rajan?
Pawandeep Rajan rose to national fame after winning Indian Idol Season 12 in 2021. He took home a ₹25 lakh prize and a Maruti Suzuki Swift car. Prior to that, he was the winner of The Voice India in 2015. A native of Champawat, Uttarakhand, Rajan comes from a family of Kumaoni folk musicians and has become one of India’s most loved young singers.
