Stellantis to Invest $13 Billion in U.S. Operations, Reopen Belvidere; 5,000+ Jobs Planned

Automaker outlines plant reopenings, new models, and hiring across four states through 2029.

Stellantis, the Amsterdam-based automaker, plans to invest $13 billion in its U.S. operations over the next four years. The company says this is its biggest investment in the U.S. ever and that it will increase domestic output by 50%, launch five new vehicles, and create more than 5,000 jobs in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana.

The plan calls for reopening the Belvidere, Illinois, assembly plant to make the Jeep Cherokee and Compass starting in 2027 (about 3,300 jobs); moving a brand-new midsize truck to the Toledo Assembly Complex in 2028 (more than 900 jobs); retooling Warren Truck in Michigan for a new range-extended EV and gasoline large SUV in 2028 (more than 900 jobs); getting Detroit Assembly–Jefferson ready for the next-generation Dodge Durango in 2029; and expanding Kokomo, Indiana, powertrain operations to make the GMET4 EVO four-cylinder engine starting in 2026 (100+ jobs), the company said.

Antonio Filosa, as stated by Stellantis, said, “This investment in the U.S.—the single largest in the company’s history—will drive our growth, strengthen our manufacturing footprint, and bring more American jobs.”

Stellantis noted that the investments need to be negotiated and get final approval from the state and local development packages.

The business indicated that plant timetables range from 2026 to 2029 and that there will be product actions and 19 updates through 2029.
